Alex Evans explains the art of photography perfectly.

"i was recently told by an acquaintance: "you will never gain credibility as a photographer unless you start taking photos of real agency models instead of all these ugly wannabe models."

a lot of people don't understand that for photographers there's absolutely no glamour or iconic/muse-like feeling happening with random overly skinny overly odd looking agency models, and i'm sure that a lot of people, especially on deviantart, can agree to this. (unless it is the photographer's personal preference, look-wise)

photography or the idea that people have about photography has gone to shit these days. it's much more challenging, personal and rewarding as a photographer to shoot someone you genuinely connect with rather than some random selling the latest dress that nobody in the real world cares for. i wish more people would make the link that photography is predominantly an art form rather than some stupid way of saying "hey i'm so awesome dude i shoot the latest Ford models styled by real stylists in front of my white walls for ELLE magazine. that's where my credibility comes from. i'm sooo talented yo"

When you think about it, most iconic photographs were of Actors, Personalities and originally unknown people..."
